The upcoming memecoin gala is drawing widespread attention after the White House confirmed that US President Donald Trump will attend and speak at the exclusive event scheduled for tomorrow. The gathering will take place at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida residence, and is organized for leading holders of the official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin.
The memecoin party will be highly exclusive in nature, with only the top 297 TRUMP token owners receiving invitations. Out of those 297 people, 29 of them will get an invite to the exclusive party, where they will be able to meet President Trump privately.
In early April, there was a bit of confusion regarding the attendance of President Trump at the party, as initially it was not confirmed that he would be attending.
The timing also raised questions since it coincides with the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, DC. Official terms for the memecoin gala even noted that the event could be canceled or that Trump might not attend. Despite the confirmation, the memecoin gala has sparked debate among lawmakers. It has been suggested that there could be a conflict of interest, as access to the president could possibly be linked to finances connected with the use of the TRUMP token. It can create ambiguity between the politics of an official position and private enterprise.
Just earlier this month, Senator Elizabeth Warren, together with Richard Blumenthal and Adam Schiff, issued a letter to the organizers raising questions about their intentions.
They said that they were concerned that access to the president through possession of a certain token could inspire people to acquire such tokens because of the financial gains associated with it. This created additional political tensions around the memecoin event.
It should be noted that such an event is not something new. In May 2025, there was another event where the attendees had access to the president via a Trump golf club. Again, conflict of interests was among the main issues discussed then. With the new memecoin gala taking place soon, the issue comes into focus once again.
