The President of Liberland, Vit Jedlička, during his presentation at the Global Blockchain Show, stated that “blockchain” will be the “modern way of state building and control.”
He also depicted Liberland as a “heart-shaped territory” that is located between Croatia and Serbia, and claimed that the micronation has defined borders, a government that is functioning and a digital-first population that is growing.
A Digital State Built on Blockchain
According to Jedlička, the governance system in Liberland is completely based on blockchain. He stated that the aim is to get rid of bureaucracy and to enable the citizens to interact with the government services in a more transparent way.
He also pointed out that more than 800,000 people have shown interest in getting citizenship or e-residency despite the fact that only about 1,300 are officially recognized as citizens.
Territory, Development and Global Outreach
The president went on to say that Liberland occupies an area of seven square kilometers, which is three times the size of Monaco, and is in the process of building physical infrastructure that includes houses, a harbor upgrade, and plans for a hotel and medical center.
He also mentioned that Liberland continues to have connections with a number of countries and has established offices in around 90 nations, including two in Dubai as part of its efforts to be acknowledged as a blockchain-native state.
