Kaia and LINE NEXT to Launch โ€œProject Unifyโ€ Stablecoin Superapp

line and kaia next stablecoin Stablecoin Superapp

Layer 1 blockchain Kaia and LINE NEXT, the Web3 division of messaging giant LINE, unveiled plans on Monday to launch “Project Unify,” a stablecoin-focused superapp set to roll out later this year on LINE’s Dapp Portal.

According to a statement, Unify is designed as an all-in-one service that brings together consumer payments, remittances, and fiat-crypto on- and off-ramps. Users will be able to deposit stablecoins to earn real-time rewards, transfer funds via chat messages, and pay both online and in physical stores worldwide, complete with spending incentives.

The partners also plan to release a Unify SDK aimed at two groups: stablecoin issuers, who can use it to expand cross-border distribution and liquidity, and developers, who can integrate stablecoin features directly into their apps.

A beta version of the app is expected later this year, offered both as a Kaia-powered standalone product and as a Mini Dapp through LINE NEXT. Unify will initially support stablecoins pegged to the U.S. dollar and other major currencies, including the Japanese yen, Thai baht, Korean won, Indonesian rupiah, Philippine peso, Malaysian ringgit, and Singapore dollar.

This new initiative builds on Kaia and LINE NEXT’s January 2025 launch of Mini Dapps, which has already attracted over 130 million registered users.

Kaia’s Push for Regional Integration

Sam Seo, chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, highlighted the importance of a stablecoin orchestration layer, pointing out that Asia’s payment infrastructure is still “highly fragmented.” He said Kaia’s goal is to bring these systems together and promote cross-border financial inclusion.

“We have seen both the needs and the potential of stablecoins. We plan to lead the expansion of Asia’s stablecoin ecosystem by introducing a superapp that anyone can use easily and safely.” Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT.

Kaia itself was created in April 2024 through the merger of Kakao’s Klaytn and LINE’s Finschia blockchains. Kakao runs South Korea’s leading messaging app, while LINE dominates markets such as Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.
