According to media reports, Joe McCann, an award-winning crypto trader and the founder of crypto fund Asymmetric, has been arrested after the sudden death of his girlfriend on holiday in Zanzibar.

What Happened In Zanzibar?
The story began when hotel staff at a luxury resort in Zanzibar found Joe McCann’s fiancée, Ashly Robinson (also known as lifestyle influencer Ashlee Jenae), unresponsive in her room on April 8.
She was rushed to a local hospital but sadly passed away the next day on April 9. Tanzanian police initially described the death as a suicide, noting that a belt was reportedly involved.
However, they emphasized that they are still questioning Joe McCann as part of their ongoing investigation.
According to police statements, the couple had experienced a “misunderstanding” earlier that evening, leading staff to separate them and move Joe McCann to a different room some distance away. A hotel employee later discovered Robinson alone and alerted management.
Family members have strongly disputed the suicide ruling, with Robinson’s sister publicly stating that “none of this makes sense.”
She described her sister as happy and excited, having just celebrated her birthday and recent engagement to Joe McCann only days before the incident.
McCann remains in police custody as investigators await full autopsy results. His passport has been withheld, according to multiple reports, while authorities continue their inquiries.
However, since the investigations are ongoing, no charges have been laid against Joe McCann, and authorities have stated that he has been a mere helper in the investigations. His friends and coworkers have expressed shock, citing him as a wise man in the crypto sphere.
