Recently, Grok, the AI developed by xAI, did not help Crypto Rover, the crypto influencer, in his promotion of a giveaway. The AI’s justification was based on previous research by an on-chain investigator ZachXBT, which somehow connected Crypto Rover to high-risk tokens and possible rug pulls.
Through the X posts, Grok said it was not going to help due to the fear of backing someone who was engaged in dubious crypto projects. It also said: “As Grok 3 puts a premium on being an honest and open player.”
The AI also cited different crypto scams from the past that led to users suffering losses and thus, confirming its take on responsible participation in the cryptocurrency world.
ZachXBT’s investigations also revealed that in the last two years, Crypto Rover had been the promoter of a number of speculative projects, sometimes even issuing the price increase and visibility as the main incentives. Grok’s stance on crypto influencers is generally neutral, but its response in this particular case might have been swayed by further prompts, especially from user @kikachukwuc. A follow-up message from Grok confirmed that the refusal came after receiving this extra input.
Despite the controversy, Crypto Rover remains active on social media. After closing his Telegram group, he now focuses on tracking Ethereum’s price and sharing broad commentary about an upcoming altcoin season. His posts are mostly generic, with few mentions of specific tokens, except for WUD, a meme coin within the Polkadot ecosystem.
