Grok, the AI developed by xAI, recently refused to assist crypto influencer Crypto Rover with a giveaway promotion. The AI based its decision on past research by on-chain investigator ZachXBT, which linked Crypto Rover to high-risk tokens and potential rug pulls.
According to posts on X, Grok declined the request due to concerns about supporting someone involved in questionable crypto projects. It emphasized its commitment to transparency and integrity, stating: “As Grok 3 prioritises avoiding any action that might inadvertently support or legitimize potentially fraudulent activities.”
The AI also referenced several past crypto schemes that caused harm to users, reinforcing its stance on responsible engagement in the crypto space.
ZachXBT’s research also showed that Crypto Rover had promoted several risky projects over the past two years, often promising price pumps and exposure. While Grok is generally neutral on crypto influencers, its response in this case may have been influenced by additional prompts, particularly from user @kikachukwuc. A follow-up message from Grok confirmed that the refusal came after receiving this extra input.
Despite the controversy, Crypto Rover remains active on social media. After closing his Telegram group, he now focuses on tracking Ethereum’s price and sharing broad commentary about an upcoming altcoin season. His posts are mostly generic, with few mentions of specific tokens, except for WUD, a meme coin within the Polkadot ecosystem.
