Solana mobile unveils SKR Token alongside Seeker smartphone

Reading Prerequisites:
  • Solana launched their first smartphone called “Saga” in 2022.
  • With its August 4 shipping date on the horizon, the Seeker smartphone plans on bringing Web3 directly to users.
  • SKR token is set to become the primary asset of its decentralized mobile ecosystem.

Solana Mobile unveils its native token SKR, built on the Solana layer-1 blockchain alongside the launch of its latest second-generation crypto-integrated smartphone, the Solana Seeker. According to the company, the shipping of the smart phone is set to begin August 04, 2025.

The token is not yet live, but according to Solana Mobile’s website, SKR will be distributed “directly to builders and users” who participate in the platform.

Emmett Hollyer, General Manager of Solana Mobile, says the token is central to its vision of a decentralized mobile ecosystem.

“We’re decentralizing the mobile experience,” he said.

“SKR isn’t just another token. It’s designed to reflect and power the Solana Mobile platform specifically.”

Hollyer went on to emphasize that SKR is launched alongside the Seeker smartphone to serve a distinct purpose.

“We want SKR to be solely representative of Solana Mobile and align the platform’s growth with its users and developers,” he said.

Seeker: a more accessible Crypto Phone

The Solana Seeker smartphone is the second by the company after Saga, which launched in 2022 at a price point of $1,000.

The new Android-based Seeker is a more affordable successor, priced at $500 for a limited time, and has already received over 150,000 pre-orders, according to the company.

As per Seeker’s X profile, the new device features a SeekerID, a new identity layer, an upgraded SeedVault Wallet, complete with a revamped Solana Dapp Store. The Seeker also retains foundational features from the Saga, including the genesis token support and secure hardware seed vault.
